The bitterly cold
Winter Wind seeps through his bones
As Night closes in…

The bitterly cold
Winter Wind seeps through his bones
As Night closes in…
:Susan-kay: Hanzlik.
This was the last straw.
He could not take any more.
Too much for too long…
:Susan-kay: Hanzlik.
His Dad had warned him,
“Be wise in your decisions.
The buck stops with you…”
:Susan-kay: Hanzlik.
He was down and out
When a Stranger quietly
Came and changed his life.
:Susan-kay: Hanzlik.
Be true to yourself
Even when everyone else
Deceives and leaves you.
:Susan-kay: Hanzlik.
The battle raged on
Another day of fighting
In his troubled mind.
:Susan-kay: Hanzlik.
He refused to go
To that place where most sell out
Lost all but his soul…
:Susan-kay: Hanzlik.
In a little old log cabin
That sits upon a Hill
There’s a raging fire to keep us warm
From Winter’s icy chill.
The atmosphere is friendly
Smiles come from the heart.
We share a bond that binds us
Even when apart.
A decorated Evergreen
Blinks in colored lights
And dances to the serenade
The Wind sings to the Night.
Silent snow lays a pearl white
Blanket on the ground
With thousands of tiny sparkles
Shimmering around.
Together we time travel back
Twelve thousand yesterdays
To be with all of those we loved
Before they went away.
The energy of memories
Fills each heart within the room
With each story told and song that’s sung
The air lingers with tunes.
So, come to my old log cabin
Bring songs both old and new
And Christmas in the Rockies
Is what I’ll share with you.

Mother Earth
Divine Plan.
But something happened.
Something changed.
Nature somehow
Re-arranged.
Polluted Waters
Deceit and Lies
Tortured Mother
Left to die.
Treeless Forests
Cause me to quiver
No Tigers left?
That makes me shiver.
Mass extinction
Where’s the Bees?
Garbage Dumped
Into the Seas.
Bears wonder
Where to go?
The homes they had
Exist no more.
Jungles burn
Elephants plead
Mother Earth screams
As she bleeds.
Nuclear waste
Oil spills
But there’s still more places
Left to drill!
Mining; fracking
Constant wars
Toxic Skies
Genetic Corn.
Pesticides
Poison Food
Violent actions
Angry moods.
Desecration
Subjugation
Genocide
Elimination.
Blood-soaked money
Species dead
Babies dying
But no regret!
Carnage here
Casualties there
Human greed
Found everywhere.
Does anyone know
The Magic Potion
For radiation
Poured in the Ocean?
All the Creatures
Great and Small
Are looking on
In great appall.
So Mother Earth
Cries out in pain
To the Divine
And not in vain!
Dark Skies appear
With Rolling Thunder.
Is SOMEONE Speaking?
Ever wonder?
Lightning flashes
Heavy Rains
Humanity crashes.
Winds have changed…
Volcanoes blowing
Earth Quakes
Tornadoes siege
Angry Lakes.
Rising Rivers
Hurricanes
Man now thinks
Nature’s insane!
Is it funny
How Karma’s Wheel
Can turn so quick
How does it feel?
Better watch
That Darkening Sky
For SOMEONE hears
Her desperate cries.
Those Dark Skies bring
Rolling Thunder…
WHO Is Speaking?
Do you still wonder?
:Susan-kay: Hanzlik.
Many Winters ago, when all life was free.
People and Earth lived in harmony.
And the Buffalo roamed across the Great Plains.
And their numbers were many; vast herds on the range.
But then something happened, unjust and unfair.
One day someone decided, to no longer share.
The Earth and her bounty, with all those who live
Upon our Sacred Mother; they would take, but not give.
So life’s balance was altered, abundance couldn’t flow.
And the plenty that once was seemed to vanish and go.
And just like the Buffalo who once had great numbers
Many creatures were forced into Dark Slumber.
But their spirits remain and always will.
The Spirit lives on forever, it cannot be killed.
While living this life, there’s a lesson that’s true
All life is a Circle that comes back to you.
What we do to each other always comes back.
To the source of the action, it’s Universal Fact.
But it’s never too late to turn things around.
If we all work together, the lost can be found.
And there’s always the hope that things can be changed.
So to the Great Spirit, the Buffalo prays,
To once again roam the Prairies, vast herds everywhere…
All past and present creatures…
That’s the Buffalo’s prayer.
